Camille Taiwo

Founder & CEO, BS, MAT, MAEL, Principal, Director, Educator, BST, PSR, QMHP, Clark County Children's Mental Health Consortium Participant

"I completed my Bachelors in Psychology and Biology at Roosevelt University on the beautiful lakefront of Downtown Chicago, Illinois. Next! Off to Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois where I earned my first Master's Degree in Teaching. Following that was my 2nd Master's coursework in Educational Leadership at Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois. It was in Nevada, at Sierra Nevada where I completed the 200 field hour leadership work for an endorsement for Principal and Building Administrator. I have been in the business of human services with multi-state educational experience for 20 years. I found the motivation to start this organization after realizing that the pattern would keep repeating across the nation that there are too many schools that crank out kids ill-prepared for independence. It mattered to me. Still does. But, through Spirit & Mind, I'm available to freely serve, create, and employ best practices that will truly plant the seeds for tomorrow's harvest in the lives of children."

Sharnay Okeke

BA, MAED, Students with Special Needs Facilitator/Autism, Educator, BST, PSR, QMHA

"I completed my Bachelors in Special Education with a specialty in the spectrum of Autism at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. I went on from there to earn my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. I went from working in the schools to providing services in the community as a BST and PSR Provider simultaneously. From there I became an International educator. I have been in the business of human services, educational, and international education services in the U.S. and China for 15 years. I have a desire to inspire before I expire! I believe in the Mission and Vision of Spirit & Mind Behavioral Services because it echos my philosophy. We really do what's best for kids and that's what this is all about. They are who this is for. "I believe the children are the future. Teach them well and let them lead the way..."

James Hightower

Math and Science Instructor

"I completed my double Bachelors of Science in Biology and Mathematics from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA in 2011. From there I went on to complete my Masters in Education from Bethel University in 2017.

I began my Ph.D studies in Applied Mathematics at UNLV in 2015. In 2017. I am still undergoing the completion of this process. Mathematics is a subject that I am passionate about because it is an indispensable tool that is utilized across all subject areas. Mathematics also teaches students logic and helps them to develop the necessary problem solving skills needed to navigate through this dynamic and complex world successfully. Looking at the educational discrepancies that plague people of color across all ages, I found the calling as a responsibility to guide our youth toward correcting these discrepancies. This is why I decided to be a part of the Mind Your Books organization because it gives me the opportunity to help students unlock their potential through the teachings of mathematics."

John Irvin

BST/Biofeedback/Education

"As a Grambling State University Alumni, I majored in Kinesiology with concentration in Pedagogy and Health Promotion. I have coached numerous youth athletic leagues and high school programs. As a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. I am no stranger to community service and uplifting those in need. The importance of mental health rehabilitation and reform continues to be a high priority in the American population. Johnathan believes that with providing the right amount of encouragement and assistance that many people can be rehabilitated to independence. May God bless those with mental health issues and God bless those who choose to help."

Stuart Elzy

BST/PSR/Education

"I love working with under-served youth and bring to the program years of service and educational experience as an Administrator and Educator of General and Special Education. I participate in the arts as an actor and bring those elements into the learning experiences of our youth. My wife and I are foster parents of 4 children, and this contributes to a greater understanding of the special needs of the children that I serve at home and also professionally. My experiences as a Physical Education teacher helps me to combine learning with fun."

Why is Speech Therapy Important? Communication is a building block upon which we construct other life skills. When communication is impaired, there is little chance for success in the classroom, in making and keeping relationships, in literacy or in learning.
